NSeries touch phone?

October 14, 2008

A statement by Devinder Kishore made some waves last weekend:

“We [Nokia] will have lot of touchscreen phones coming up, including an N-series device very soon”

So Nokia just announced the Nokia 5800 as their first touch phone. Everybody was a bit annoyed, that it wasn’t a NSeries product. Finally also these guys will get their “hands on” (literally ;) ) on a new touch phone from Nokia

Nokia stated, that they at first wanted to bring up a touch mobile in a segment, where the customers do not expect a perfect touch experience – or where the customers are not that critical.

Which means, NSeries is coming when Nokia has improved the touch experience. We will see… So long, I will stay with my ESeries

Nokia N96

October 13, 2008

gsmarena.com has posted a new in-depth review about the Nokia N96. The new Nokia flagship offering nearly everything you think about – well that was 6 months ago when they announced it. Currently there are a lot of other phones available on the market which can match up with that phone – unfortunately.

“Too little, too late” – like gsmarena.com is summarizing their review: Nokia N96 review.

Freaky Nokia N85 unboxing video

New Firmware for Nokia E90

October 10, 2008

Well, good news to all these Nokia E90 users: they got a new firmware version :)

allaboutsymbian.com reports the following updates:

  • Much faster orientation switching (open/close lid etc)
  • Nokia Maps 2.0 now built-in
  • Download! application updated (v 3.1.736)
  • Cosmetic upgrade to Music player
  • Update for Flash Lite 3 and Flash video
  • Wi-Fi improvements
  • New baseline for VoIP
  • Realplayer supports FLV format (i.e FLV files can be played directly like MP4)

symbian-guru.com reports that Blackberry Connect support was removed. So if you need it, probably skip that software update.

As soon as I tried it out, I will report to you if I have got any troubles.

Business meeting – and no clue how to get there?

October 10, 2008

Well, we have been on our way to a busniess meeting. We just got the adresse and no one had an idea how to get there. So I just grabbed my mobile (Nokia E71 at the moment), opened the event in the calendar, took the address and entered the adress into google maps. For a short route calculation via public transport. Last part of the route seemed tricky, so we decided to follow the route to a certain point and than take a taxi.

So far, everything was fine. We arrived in time at the certain point an stopped a taxi. Well, the driver had no clue where the destination shall be… So again, my mobile got some work to do. Nokia Maps – there you go. GPS start up, GPS lock, destination selected from the favorites (stored it via Google Maps previously) and select “Drive To”. So we my phone was guiding the taxi driver how to get there…

Strange, unusual but hell funny :D
